Empower Texas Workers & Economic Justice
We live in a country where wages have been held flat for 50 years!
Meanwhile, rent is up over 700%, healthcare costs are up over 500%, higher education costs are up nearly 200%, and childcare costs have nearly doubled.
These trends wreak havoc on Texas households.
If wages had kept growing like they used to, the average person would earn DOUBLE what they do today.
Strong unions built our middle class the first time, and we’ll need strong unions to rebuild our middle class again.
Yet labor issues are rarely at the forefront of political campaigns. Unions don’t just raise wages for their members, they raise wages for all workers and can help reduce our historic inequality.
Overhauling our labor laws in Texas is crucial, which means raising the minimum wage to $15, fighting anti-union “right to work (for less)” laws and restoring collective bargaining rights to ALL unions. A strong workforce means a strong Texas.
